Kake Dog Salmon Festival '09
Kake (pop. 598) is a Tlingit community. "Kake" translates to "the town that never sleeps"
Alaska's tallest totem is here in Kake (136 feet)--carved by Alaska Indian Arts in Haines for Expo '70 in Osaka, Japan
At that time it was the tallest in the world.
Captain Dennis entered the 5K race and came in 3rd--and he was twice as old as many of them!
"Where's the finish line?" He had to dodge line dancers to find it!
And here comes Will--at 14, the youngest of our group
Mate Todd competed in the salmon fillet competition, following the directive of the MC to "respect your fish", and not just hack it up!

Todd and Will beat all comers in the tub race!
